Show ScheduleEvent Schedule
There is a lot to see and do in Virginia Beach, and a Saturday trip to the Virginia Aquarium is planned. Additional activities on your own could include visits to the Cape Henry Lighthouse or the King Neptune Statue. For those interested in history, there is The Military Aviation Museum or the Old Coast Guard Station. Or maybe the Francis Land House, a plantation manor built in the early 19th century and furnished with antiques would be of more interest. The more adventurous in the group might want to try indoor Skydiving at iFly. And, with average day-time temperatures in the low sixties, walks along the beach or boardwalk could be delightful! Whatever your interest – outside of violets, that is – you’re sure to find something to do with any spare time you might have. You can find the complete show schedule in the May 2019 edition of the MAAVS Memo. Design categories will reflect the Virginia Beach Boardwalk Art Show, a 4 day festival celebrating its 64th year in 2019, featuring artists from across the nation and beyond. Art exhibits include work in ceramics, digital art, fiber, glass, graphics, jewelry, metalwork, wood, painting, photography, sculpture, and mixed media. And it’s not too early to set aside those plants that might prove show-worthy and begin the grooming routines. Who knows? You might be able to defray some of the convention cost with your prize money!!!!! Even if you just come to be awe-struck and inspired by the exhibits of some of the best growers and designers in the violet world, don’t miss the chance to enjoy time with old friends and maybe make a few new ones. Oh, and indulge yourself with a few or 20 new plants for your collection when you visit the Sales room. You’ll be glad you came. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- AVSA 2020 Convention and Show"Violets Go Hog Wild in Arkansas"Little Rock, Arkansas Sunday, May 24 – Sunday, May 31, 2020 Little Rock Marriott Hotel Show & Sales Area Open to the Public
